Woodland Photography in Britain and Beyond

From ancient British woodlands to remote forests in other parts of the globe, Robin’s woodland images try to capture the uniqueness of each habitat. Our forests are ever-changing with the cycle of life, the seasons and often devastating storms. In these strange, dreamlike woodlands, a quiet drama plays out, rooted in raw nature and the instinct of all species to survive.

Woodland Photography

My woodland images have been exhibited with Forestry England and the Royal Geographical Society in recent years, reflecting my time spent capturing and understanding our forest environments through their changing seasons and shifting light. I have become one of an elite band of talented British photographers able to capture the atmosphere, structure, and emotional depth of forests both at home and abroad. My gallery is a testament to this ability to capture the essence of our precious woodlands and bring it home for the viewer to enjoy.

The woodland has always been at the heart of my photography. Living and working within the Chiltern Hills means I am surrounded by some of the finest ancient woods the UK has to offer, with its sweeping, stunning beech and oak forests, that are found lurking within our timeless misty English valleys. These forests are home not only to rich colour and texture, but also to a stunning resurgence of our English woodland animals, whose presence adds a quiet narrative to the landscape. Whether I am capturing pure woodland scenes or creating forest pictures of animals, these printed images enable this amazing, intimate landscape to be enjoyed by all.

Our woodlands offer endless opportunities for forest photography, from the bright greens of spring to the rich copper tones of autumn photography. Their atmosphere is timeless, and it’s within these calm, unique spaces that much of my photography in the forest settings takes shape.

Although the Chilterns remain my creative home, I travel widely in search of woodland inspiration, often exploring forests in Europe, North Africa and the Americas.

Each print is created to archival fine-art standards, preserving the subtle tones, soft light, and intricate detail found within these extraordinary places. Hand-framed options, including reclaimed wood finishes and selected limited-edition prints are available for collectors.
