Robin’s Latest Photography Adventures

Explore my latest landscape photography adventures across the UK and beyond. Featuring new images, behind-the-scenes videos, blog stories, and travel maps from the Chilterns, Scotland, and other parts of the world.

Welcome to my growing collection of photography journeys designed to inspire photographers searching for their next location to take pictures, whatever the time of year. This page brings together my most recent photographic adventures, combining landscape and woodland photography with travel insight, location scouting, and real experience gained in the field.

Each adventure follows a simple but immersive format. You’ll find a YouTube vlog from each trip, sharing the reality of photographing on location. From responding to light and weather, to compositional decisions and access challenges. Alongside each video is an interactive Google map, showing routes explored and shooting areas, plus a direct link to a dedicated gallery featuring my final images from that location.

Scotland in October

In October 2025, I hit the road here in the UK and headed into the Highlands of Scotland, its Islands and the Far North. This is a regular trip for me. I often go twice a year in the VW Camper for about 2 to 4 weeks at a time. In this video, I explore the area and discuss some of the problems that photographers may encounter when exploring the more remote areas of this stunning wolrd.

Smoky Mountains, USA

In April 2025, I visited my friend and photographer, David Roth, at the Great Smoky Mountain National Park in the USA. The trip did not disappoint: Fog, mountains, wild bears. It had everything we needed for an amazing trip.

I have created a short video of the trip, and there are some of my favourite images below.

Patagonia, Chile

In November 2024, I spent a month journeying through Patagonia’s wild landscapes. From towering mountains and ancient forests to remote coastlines. This collection captures the raw beauty and untamed spirit of South America’s southern frontier, a land of dramatic light, vast wilderness, and unforgettable trekking routes.

So far, these photography adventures include journeys through the United States, Chile, and Scotland. These trips span different seasons and months, from spring travel and autumn exploration to late-year visits, offering insight into how locations change throughout the year. This makes the page useful not just for discovering where to go, but also for understanding when a place works best for photography.

Rather than focusing on a single month, these adventures are intended to help photographers make informed decisions across the calendar. Some trips naturally lend themselves to autumn light and colour, making this a helpful resource if you’re researching where to travel in October, while others show what conditions can be like in April, November, or during quieter shoulder seasons. Each entry highlights why a destination works as a location to take pictures at that particular time, and what you might expect if you visit in a different month.

These adventures go beyond showcasing finished images. They’re about exploration, slowing down, and learning how to work creatively with unfamiliar environments. From dramatic open landscapes and remote coastlines to quieter woodland scenes. I share practical insights that don’t always appear in guidebooks, helping photographers plan trips with a stronger understanding of seasonality, timing, and visual potential.

As I continue to travel, this page will grow to include more destinations, more months, and more photographic experiences throughout the year. Whether you’re planning ahead, looking for inspiration on where to travel in October, or simply searching for a compelling location to take pictures, this page is designed to offer honest guidance, creative insight, and real-world experience from the field.
